Interact Club’s 36th Installation

Monday, March 27th, 2006

It has come and gone. How time flies. Can’t say I’m glad it’s over, but I am relieved. It has been work work work for the pass few weeks. (not all on my behalf though :P ) I was the MC for the event, but I think I did a sucky job, cuz this was my first attempt at MCing. Just when we thought everything was fine on the day before the Installation, everything started to go wrong. The stage curtains won’t work, the PA had problems, balloons kept bursting…. I was embaressed when the mic started to give problems when Mr Andy Liew (President of the Rotary Club of Seremban) was giving his speech. Damn Malu ar! Even while I was singing, mic problem again. *sigh* For the Installation ceremony, we didn’t even have the mace for the sarjan-at-arms. And as all events(Chan Wa style), the best part was the Demo part, where we all got to the dance floor and danced until the end. The high-light for us , the Interact Committee, was that we managed to get 2 schools from KL to send representatives to our Installation. I was also in charged of Deco, And I’m happy that a lot of ppl said the backdrop that I drew, was very nice. Our theme for this time was "Dream Fantasy" (my idea), so I drew fairies, unicorns and fantasy stuff. Well, none the less, with all it’s downs, I liked it anyway. Our T-shirt design was not bad, plus I really like our colar pin.

Trip to 8TV!

Friday, March 17th, 2006

Few days ago, I went on yet another trip organized by Radio Chan Wa. We started off at about 8am. On the bus, we had 2 tour guides (which happened to ex-Chan Wa students), which were quite fun. Our first stop was the International Gardens. Nothing much there, but saw an interesting scene. There was this huge dead fish in one of the lakes and a bunch of tortoises were eating it… Next we went to a "chocolate factory", which wasn’t much of. Just a place for us to buy chocolate. Then headed to "Sri Perdana" aka home of our last Prime Minister (Tun Dr Mahathir) to look see. Next was the National Planetarium(after lunch), which was under renovation so not much. But we got to go up the tower.
Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for… 8TV/TV3 (Sri Pentas). Felix was our guide for this place. We met with the 8 Team and got lots of goodies.Visited the set for "The Quickie" and "8 e-news". Met Rina, Gary Yap and Yoon. (Some even went to get their autographs)
As we were about to leave, outside was pouring. Felix even got soaked trying to help us get to our bus (thanks so much, Felix).
We got wet too, but it was all worth it, and I’d gladly do it again for a chance to visit 8TV again.

Youth Exchange Program

Sunday, March 12th, 2006

Busy! Just so busy!! With my Interact Club’s 36th Installation coming up and all.Well anyway, on Friday I got a call from Mr Christie Daniels of the Rotary Club. It was to inform me to attend an interview on Sunday regarding the Youth Exchange Program. I had earlier applied for it but as 3 months had gone by, I thought I wasn’t selected. I was really happy. The next day I had to ready up (in other words, study) about all our Malaysian Culture and stuff like that. I prepared myself with sample interview question I got from the Rotary International website. Today, (naturally I didn’t get to go to church, forgive me God) I was the first to be at the place and there was no one there, we thought we got the wrong place. Thank God Mr Daniels turned up a while later. There were 3 other ppl there. We had to sit for a writen test, then a verbal one (which asked all the questioned I practised, yay!).I think I did well. But when Mr Daniels explained about the cost and all, I was shocked. I thought we only had to pay for air-fare, insurance and a few others, but the estimated cost was about 14k!! My parents could never afford that. Looks like my dreams won’t be becoming a reality. *sigh*

P.S. Why?? why does everything have to be about money.
