Woke up at about 5am, even though our group decided to meet at 4:30 (but we were only required to wake up at 6). As the “others” practised, we just stood around, not knowing what to do. There were so many ppl in each group (about 40-50) and only 1 leader, how on earth is the leader suppose to check up on everyone! Anyway, wasted an hour of sleep time just like that. First session was “No Applogies” by Mr Joshua Liong from Focus on the Family M’sia. This was very good, he even showed us his baby’s photo to motive us. Talked about sex, AIDS, marriage and teens. Next, “WWF M’sia-Conservation Efforts” which I was looking forward to but turned out to be quite boring. After break, we had an Input by the INTI Collage team. They showed us a video, then took us on a tour of the place. Our group was headed by Daniel Lee… something (sound familiar?). Nothing much to see though, but the surroundings were quite nice. After that we had lunch, then free time, which was practise and stuff. We had to get ready, cuz we had the Official Opening of the Conference, which was attended by all the VIPs and the District Governor. So everyone wore their Interact Uniforms, but unfortunely, my school doesn’t have any… Everyone looked so smart in their specially made uniforms (some even had “batik: with interact logo on them), I could only wear the T-shirt they gave us as an alternative. Before our next session, we had a little bit of free time, so lots of ppl were exchanging collar pins/badges/pins/tie pins or actually selling them. I wanted to buy some, but most of them were damn expensive! Ranging from RM 5-7. I decided to do the same, selling my clubs collar pins (2 different years) for 4 and 3.50 . Not expecting much sales, I only took a hand full from my stock, but the response was huge! I hardly even had time to put the money in my pocket. Lots of ppl were crowding around me, I hardly even had space to move… Within 5 minutes, I was sold out. I even got orders so I could get back to them when I had more.
Next up was talks by UNICEF about AIDS, which I was looking forward to again, but ended up bored. Looked around and saw many already dozing… Free time we used to rehearse (we managed to borrow the stage, thanks to our Rotaract Billy), was even late for dinner. After one more session (not much), we finally came to the event we’ve all been waiting for…Talent Nite!! All groups were suppose to perform. The Green Monkeys (us) went up 2nd(thank goodness too, cuz by the 4th not many paid anymore attention). Our sketch was about a guy couple coming to M’sia for holiday and they get a culture shock. The girly guy was played by Billy and his partner was Jonathan. We had stuff like rude taxi drivers, pirated CD sellers, durians and prostitutes. We had acting, dancing and singing, and it was damn funny(I was only involved in the singing), what more could you ask for. The other performance weren’t very good (no offence), there were even ppl doing (sort of) the same thing. 2 about the sessions during the conference, and 2 Cinderellas, others include one about our festival and beliefs, singing, and dancing. The event was suppose to be until 11, but it dragged to almost 2am.
