AFS Peace Petition Collection Drive (Signatures Appeal)‏

August 31st, 2007 by joycelyn89

Dear friends,

The AFS-YES Alumni Malaysia will be organizing a Petition Collection Drive starting from 1 August till 23 September 2007 to collect 10 000 ONLINE signatures from Malaysians for this petition.

The peace petition is a worldwide effort that will not only involve AFS, but many other organizations with an interest in promoting peace through intercultural understanding. AFS hopes to collect at least one million signatures in support of this petition. The petition and its signatures will be presented to the United Nations in a ceremony connected to the celebration of AFS’s 60th Anniversary in New York City at the end of October 2007. The likely venue for this will be a Peace Forum organized by AFS..

We believe that

PEACE, IT’S SOMETHING WE CAN CREATE!

Intercultural exchange programs teach young people all over the world, that our concerns are global. An exchange experience fosters mutual understanding that can help bridge our differences and lead to peace.

Therefore, I encourage you to please join me and sign the petition drive to help create a generation of global leaders.

The YES Alumni Malaysia will be organizing a Petition Collection Drive starting from today till 23 September 2007 to collect at least 10 000 online signatures from Malaysians for this petition.

The project will also end with a Paint for Peace Petition (P4PP) weekend on the 22 and 23 September 2007 in conjunction of International World Peace Day. We will be collecting palm prints and signatures on a banner which will be showcased in the World Peace Forum at the AFS 60th Anniversary NY Celebration Weekend and later presented to the representative from the United Nations as a symbolic support of Peace from Malaysia.

What you can do:

1)         Please sign the online petition at www.exchanges4peace.org and get your extended network to sign the petition as well.

2)         Support us in the P4PP weekend at One Utama Shopping Center, Kuala Lumpur and have your palms printed on the banner.

At the heart of all our efforts as a youth group, we wish to be truly here to make a difference and not just saying it. Therefore, I urge you to join us in not only promoting peace but the awareness that there should be a strong spirit of volunteerism and youth empowerment amongst youths today.

Lastly, I hope you can take the time to please forward this email around to your friends, family and even anyone you know to join our effort supporting peace through youth exchange.(I believe it is okay to spam their inbox if it is for a good cause.) Your contribution to this petition is very important and much appreciated.

‘In this era of globalization, we need to know that the world doesn’t just revolve around ourselves. The world beyond borders are coming so fast that we cannot afford to narrow our mind to what is going on just within the community, but to explore every possibilities of extending our network for as far as the river may flow, and as high as the sky can be.’

Thank you.

Halfway Around The World - A*Teens

June 11th, 2007 by joycelyn89

Baby I will soon be leaving
And I know that you are feeling down (that you are feeling down)
But every week I’ll send a letter
To let you know my love will never change (my love will never change)
I promise you I always feel the same

So remember in your heart
Baby when we are apart
There is no need for crying
Cause even if I am

Halfway around the world
That won’t stop me from loving you
Halfway around the world
I’ll still be feeling the way I do and now
I wanna hold you baby
Cause I’m gonna miss you like crazy
Even if I’m halfway around the world

Baby when the miles are growing
You and I will still be going strong (still be going strong)
No matter what your friends are saying
Don’t give up on what you’re waiting for (what you’re waiting for)
Cause one day I’ll be knocking on your door

So remember in your heart
Baby when we are apart
There is no need for crying
Cause even if I am

Halfway around the world
That won’t stop me from loving you
Halfway around the world
I’ll still be feeling the way I do and now
I wanna hold you baby
Cause I’m gonna miss you like crazy
Even if I’m halfway around the world

If I could
You know that I would
Find a way to stay for good
But I must go now
I wanna hold you baby
Cause I’m gonna miss you like crazy
Even if I’m

Halfway around the world
That won’t stop me from loving you (that won’t stop me)
Halfway around the world
I’ll still be feeling the way I do and now
I wanna hold you baby
Cause I’m gonna miss you like crazy
Even if I’m halfway around the world

One in A Million

Ok, so the show is now down to 3 contestens. That’s Suki, Alif, and Faizal. At the beginning of the show during the audition stage, I was really rutting for Suki to win (you know… being a great singer, plus she’s a Seremban girl, we must support our own ppl ma…), cuz I believe her to be outstanding. But as it got into the studio performances, she went down hill. Not only was she constantly picking wrong songs for herself, she’s also being very immature. She’s always putting on the act of a cute and kesihan girl (you should have seen the ammount of times she cries during the OIAM Diaries). And I seriously don’t think she’s mature enough for the million ringgit (ONE MILLION I TELL YOU!! DO you know how many things I could do with that sort of money???!!!).

Top10_dayang

I would have perfered Dayang to win, cuz not only was she brave enough to put her reputation on the line, she is also one of the few that I’ve seen to work their ass off each week. But sadly, she didn’t survive until the Top 3. (Damn! Just when I wanted to start voting for her….)
Alif, I like him because he usually sings pop, plus he’s quite cute. And he’s really fun to watch… lots of personality, funny, and what stands out most for him is his braces. :P I hope Faizal wins, now that it’s down to 3. It because he has real passion for music, he knows how the market for music is like, and his style is really original. I seriously cannot imagine how it was like when he was a Nasyhid (not sure how it’s spelt, sorry…) singer, cuz it’s so different from what he is now. And he has a brand plus he’s very experience.
So Everyone!!! Please vote for Faizal!!!

Tibute to the Crocodile Hunter

September 4th, 2006 by joycelyn89

It’s been such a long time since I last posted but recent news has urged me to do a tribute for none other than the Crocodile Hunter himself……………    Steve Irwin.
I heard the shocking news on the radio while my way home from school. And you can’t imagine how shocked I am to hear it. OI had to check my hears a few time before finally aknowlaging that it was the most unlikely thing to happen, but still true. I was going Noooooooo all the way home and going WHyyyyyyy!!!??? and I’m going to say it again! How could someone like Steve Irwin die!!!! Famous for him enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchword "Crikey!" Click here to read the report.
It’s such a huge lost for the wildlife society, may his legend live on.
Rest in Peace our dear Crocodile Hunter

Just being frank…

The saying goes, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me." And that is so not true! Words may not harm you physically, but it does emotionally.
I’m lucky to say that I’ve never been a really serious fight with anyone before. And knowing my charactor, how could I? I’ve always kept my cool when it comes to my friends sa that no parties would get hurt. But the worst punishment anyone can give me is silence. When someone doesn’t speak to you, there will surely be tension. But the torture of thinking of what I’ve done wrong? How can I make it up to her? Will she forgive me? Why did I say those things? This is all my fault! How could I be so stupid! The mind plays tricks when you’re in your own world that’s fill with questions and remarks.
I had my 1st ever fight today. My "play mate"(a very good friend whom I tease and play around with A LOT!) wouldn’t talk to me or look at me, just because I called her greedy (in a semi-playful manner, but I acctually meant it). And she kept making remarks to others like "SOMEONE might say I’m greedy, so…". And I had no one to talk to. I was so lonely, so hurt, so guilty. I missed playing with her. I was alone in my own world, screaming : "I’m sorry!" Not daring to say it out loud. Maybe I was too harsh? maybe I should show her my sorrow? maybe give her a "forgive me" present? I’d do anything to be friends again. Unable to speak or have any reaction. Holding back tears.
The "problem" was resolved soon after with her finally speaking to me and me hurriedly appologising. All’s well that ends well.
Could one simple word break a long bonded friendship just like that? Or is she being too sensitive? (some ppl think so too) Or was it really all my fault? Everyone has flaws, I’ve found another one of my friend’s. Not everything will be the same after this, but who do you think was the victim?

My New Blog!!

July 28th, 2006 by joycelyn89

I recently got a new blog, located in Xanga.com.
www.xanga.com/joycelyn89
Go check it out! I’ll still be making changes to the site to make it cooler, but this does not mean I’m abandoning this blog. Friendster blogs are easy to use, and doesn’t need a lot of designing to make it look acceptable (but unfortunely it cannot do anything else). In Xanga however, you can go wild with it! Design your own images, put up chatterboxes, favourite links plus add music and stuff. Most importantly, I can place photos more neatly now. That the main thing that Friendster has given me all this time.
So I guess this blog will be only for writings and not images. If you want something more fun, different, outragous, then visit my new Xanga Blog.

Looking back…

June 28th, 2006 by joycelyn89

It’s that time of the year I dread. And no, it’s not THAT time of the month. It’s my final year in secondary school and I finally have to let go of all my post in my clubs’ committee, that sort of stuff.
The one that felt the hardest letting go was of my Presidentship of the English Language Society. I have held that post for 2 years now and I have been through hell and back during my rein. Blood, sweat and tears were shed, but no one ever noticed. I got the post in Form 3, and with no help whatsoever (from the previous president) I had to run the society, without knowing what I was suppose to do. Throughout these 2 years I have been through : worthless committee members(only 2 of those), horrible teacher advisor(those who know me will know who that is, thank God she’s gone!), countless disappointments, and many let-downs. But nevertheless, I love the society, and I never let go. Although I admit I didn’t really do a good job and I didn’t live up to my expectations. I had so many unfulfilled dreams, hopes and ambitions.
I was even more worried about handing the leadership to someone else. I had someone in mind that I felt I could trust to run the society and might share my vision. But sadly she didn’t want the responsibility, and I faced yet again with problems. Worried that presidentship would go to an unknown newcomer who would run my society into the ground.
But alls well that ends well. After the election of the new committee, I talked to the new president, and I’m glad to say a burden is finally lifted and I am satisfied with the new president. Now looking back, I can see that though it was a long and hard journey, I’m glad that I was President, as it had been what I wanted since I joined the society. I wanted power, and so I had it, along with all the hardship. It’s sad to leave, but I hope that one day, when I come back, I will see that it has grown and become a great society. I’m grateful for all those who have helped me on my journey, and I wish all the best to the new English Language Society Committee of 2006-2007. Yay!

Of Cute Guys and Holidays!

May 29th, 2006 by joycelyn89

This entry was meant to be on the 24th of May….
It’s in the middle of my midterms and I know I should be studying and all, but…. Distractions…. I can never resist them…
Was at a dinner the other day at Sung Ujong Club with my cousins at some event my parents made us go to, but every cloud has a silver lining. Me and my cousin noticed a really cute waiter there. And we were both going gugugaga over him. I saw his name was Daniel, but he looked like a mixed blood Malay but nontheless very cute. We even tried to get a pic of him, but only got blured images. Oh well, at least me had a chance to drool over him. The thing I loved most about him was that he wore glasses. I don’t know but I have a soft spot for guys with glasses.
Anyway, exams are over and I’m currently enjoying myself while I still can. Going off to PD with my friends now….
